How to use the Kanban task board in goiso

The four task sources feed one board.

The task board shows your work as cards in columns, so you can see at a glance what is in progress, what is waiting, and what is done. In goiso it is more than a to-do list: seeded compliance plans, nonconforming inspection items, and evidence requests all arrive on this board as cards — so your team's daily drag-and-drop is the execution of your compliance program itself.

How the board is organized

Every board starts with three columns — Open, In Progress, and Closed — and each column belongs to a category (to-do, in progress, or done), so the system always knows what “finished” means on your board. From the column settings you can add new columns or edit them to match how your team actually works: a review column before closure, for example, or one for blocked tasks.

  1. Each task is a card in the column that represents its status.
  2. Drag a card from one column to another to change its status.
  3. Drag it into a done-category column to close it.

What a card carries

Open any card to see its full details:

  • Assignees — assign the task to people from your employee records, so responsibility never floats in the air.
  • Priority and dates — four priority levels (low to urgent), a start date, and a due date.
  • Checklist — break the task into small steps and watch the progress bar fill as each one is done.
  • Comments — discuss the work on the card itself instead of in a chat app, so the context stays attached to the task.
  • Attachments — attach files directly to the card.
  • Activity log — every change (status, priority, dates, assignment) is recorded automatically: who did it and when.

Where tasks come from

  • Manually — add a card directly on the board.
  • The compliance seed wizard — activating a certificate scope generates ready-made tasks for the clauses you need to satisfy.
  • A nonconforming inspection item — when an inspection finds a failing item, its remediation becomes a card.
  • An evidence request — when you ask a colleague for a document, the request arrives as a card on the default “Evidence Requests” board, and once the file is uploaded it is flattened into evidence and the card closes itself.

More than one board

The tasks door opens a list of boards, not a single board. The default board comes with your organization, and you can create more: a board per team, per site, or per project. A new board starts private to its creator with the three standard columns, and your subscription plan sets how many active boards can run at once.

What makes this board different

On a generic kanban tool, closing a card is the end of the story. In goiso it is part of a bigger one: seeded clause tasks, inspection remediations, and the evidence arriving through request cards all meet on this board, and its daily activity is part of the material your compliance readiness is read from. That is what we call living compliance: your ISO posture read from the day-to-day work itself, not from a binder assembled the week before the audit.
